Martin Brundle

A veteran of nine seasons in Formula 1, Brundle racked up 98 points with Tyrrell, Brabham, McLaren, Benetton and Jordan before retiring at the end of the 1996 season.

Brundle started his racing career in 1971, aged 12, driving a self-built Ford Anglia grass track car. He wrote a letter to the late Tom Walkinshaw asking for an opportunity to drive one of his BMW racing cars and to his amazement, the former Arrows F1 team boss agreed.

He moved into F1 and narrowly missed out on the 1983 championship to the legendary Ayrton Senna in the final laps of the final race.

During his racing career, he also won the Le Mans 24 Hours, Daytona 24 Hours and World Sportscar Championship. His best F1 championship finish was 6th in 1992 when he raced alongside Michael Schumacher at Benetton.

In 1997 he stepped into the ITV F1 commentary box alongside Murray Walker before moving to the BBC in 2009.

For 2012 and beyond he has joined the new and dedicated Sky Sport F1 channel. He will also be competing in the 2012 Le Mans 24 hour race with his 21 year old son, Alex.
