About Mechanics

New for 2012, we introduced an occasional series of stories which bring to life the lives of mechanicsbefore, during, and after their time in the pitlane.

To launch this new series, Steve Matchett, formerly of Benetton and one of the mechanics caught up in the infamous fireball incident, recorded just a few of his memories.

Steve's reminiscing is closely followed by the memories of Herbie Blash, who thinks backs even further - to his early days as a mechanic, plus a tale from Doug Garner harking back to his start at Team Lotus in Hethel.
